#1. Weather - Lake Norman averages between the high-30s to mid-50s in the Winter and between 80s to mid-90s in the Summer.  We are a destination for many Northerners who wish to escape the extreme Winters, but still value the 4 seasons.

 

#2. Water fun - It is THE place for water fun as the villages of Cornelius, Davidson and Huntersville are all nestled on the banks of beautiful Lake Norman.  Lake Norman is best known as the Inland Sea due to its sheer size.  There is 520 miles of shoreline and a surface area of more than 32,475 acres in parts of four counties and is considered the largest man-made body of water in the State of North Carolina.

 

#3. NASCAR and Motor Sports - If you are a fan of NASCAR then you will not be bored in this area. Huntersville is the home of Joe Gibbs Racing . You will probably be dining right next to a NASCAR driver in Lake Norman. A lot of drivers call this area home.

#5. Outdoor Enjoyment - Lake Norman provides water fun as stated above from fishing, sailing, kayaking, water skiing, wake boarding and the list goes on.  There is also plenty of places to hike, picnic and ride bikes.  If you are a nature lover than you'll love this area.

 

#6. Golf - Are you an avid golfer?  If you are then Lake Norman is definitely a great location for you. The Lake Norman area golf courses range from public daily fee 18-hole courses to private golf.   

 

#7. Restaurants & Fine Dining - If you want to continue your lakeside fun while dining then you will not be disappointed with a lack of choice.  There are several waterfront restaurants to choose from.  There are also family-friendly choices and even pet-friendly options.  You can bring everyone out for a delicious meal in Lake Norman.

 

#8. Festivals & Events - There are so many choices and fun things going on in the area that there is a Calendar of Events offered by VisitLakeNorman.org.  Take a look and then plan your weekends ahead.  Annual events like the Scottish Festival and Loch Norman Highland Games at Historic Rural Hill in April and the Saint Patrick's Day Festival and many others are family traditions that are looked forward to every year.

 

#9. Lake Norman's Location - It really is the prime location for everything you might want to experience.  In one and half hours you can be enjoying the mountains and in three and half hours you'll arrive at the coast for some R & R at the ocean.   Don't forget that Charlotte is only 30 to 45 minutes away.
