1. Do you work part-time or full-time in real estate?

You probably want someone who is full-time and can give your listing or your buying needs full-time attention.  Someone who is part-time is only in the race halfway. 

 

2. In the past year how many sellers and/or buyers have you represented in this area?

This will tell you how much of a go-getter the person is and what level of success she/he has had. Although, you should also take in to consideration the market conditions when evaluating the number of transactions the agent has had.  

 

3. How many sellers are you representing now?

This is important in that the number of current sellers could bolster your confidence in their abilities or if they haven’t a lot of sellers currently then your listing would get more attention.  It’s all in how you look at it and what you want.   

 

4. What designations or certifications do you currently hold?

This obviously speaks to how important they take their real estate career.  Also, it shows you the level of interest they have in staying on top of the industry changes on behalf of representing their clients to the best of their abilities. 

 

5. What is the average list price compared to actual sold price of your Listings?

This will let you know their skill level when it comes to negotiations and their skill at finding the right price needed to make a home sell. 


6. What systems and approaches will you use to best market my listing?

Do they use networking via office colleagues and/or past and present clients? Print marketing? Online marketing? How diverse is their online presence? What type of audience would they be marketing my home to?

 

7. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?

Are you open to using email, text messaging, and/or phone calls to keep me apprised of the status of my sale? Will you communicate with the other agents who show my listing?  How will you communicate with them? 

 

8. Do you have testimonials from other clients you’ve worked with?

Can I contact some of your past clients? Do you have their testimonials listed online where I can reference them?

 

9. How long have you been in this area?

Do you know the area well?  Are you a lifelong resident? What would you say is special about the location of my home?

 

10. Would you be able to recommend service providers for me?

I might need a home stager or someone to make repairs for my property. Do you have a connection with such professionals in the area?
