Happy Halloween Everyone!

Friday night, the rain held off so we could enjoy the Halloween March through Davidson.  Hundreds of costumed residents lined up at Davidson’s Town Hall to parade down Main Street to get candy, meet the merchants and visit with friends.  This is an aspect of Davidson that I just love.  Our sense of community is really “spooktacular” and is one of the things I point out to people who are looking to move to this area.  Every year, the town plans this event with our local merchants, and it’s a really fun way to celebrate this holiday.

Our whole Lake Norman region prides itself in being a welcoming community, and it enhances home sales when I am able to talk about these values.  People want to live here.  They want to raise their families here, retire here, and participate in everything there is to do in the area, whether it be having fun on the lake, going to festivals, shopping, going to sporting or cultural events, or enjoying the outdoors.

Enjoy Halloween and I hope that it brings you more treats than tricks!

I am a proud sponsor of the Hough High sports teams, and currently my Mayes Harris Realty banner is hanging at the Huskies’ football field. 

This school is named for William Amos Hough, a former principal at North Mecklenburg High School, my alma mater.  He oversaw the integration of that school back in the 60s, and was principal when my two older brothers were students at North Meck.  He was a family friend and we admired him a lot.

So far, Hough High’s football team is having a great season!  On Friday the 30^th, they beat North Meck 28-16.  You should go check out a game – the Huskies’ stadium is an impressive facility, and the fans sure support their team.

The Town of Davidson has just launched its new website for visitors and residents, called ExploreDavidsonNC.com and it’s fabulous!  It’s chock full of information about dining, shopping and exploring Davidson.  If you don’t live in Davidson, check out the site and come visit for a day or weekend get-away.  They’ve even got a recommended itinerary listed under their “Things to do” tab.

One of the most exciting parts of this site is its six-word stories campaign.  Take a look at the video on the home page explaining this fun concept.  Check out one of the people featured in this video, sharing her very own six-word story!  I had a lot of fun participating in this.  Davidson: It’s my Norman Rockwell town!

Where has this year gone?  My kids have already been talking about Halloween, and we’re getting excited about fall activities and the cooler weather.  This is a great time to start making some changes in and around your home, to get it ready for fall and winter.

Enjoy the new season!

I am proud to announce the creation of my very first video! It’s right on the home page of my website. I am grateful for the help of some very special clients, and am humbled by their testimonials.  I love my job and feel blessed to have helped so many wonderful clients.  We filmed this in Huntersville – some parts in Birkdale Village, some parts at the Birkdale Golf Course and some parts at the headquarters of Waldinger Racing.  Thank you to all of you who helped make this video possible.

I am so pleased to report that I have been ranked #4 in North Carolina year-to-date for individual RE/Max agents and #6 in both North Carolina and South Carolina combined! Wow!  What an honor to have all hard work I pour into my job pay off.  I’m so proud.  Check out my certificate!

I’ve been in real estate since 1989, and as you know, I love my job.  I work hard to sell homes on behalf of my clients and work just as hard to help others buy homes.  I make it a priority to learn the latest in the real estate industry, keeping up with changes in laws and regulations, attend conferences and seminars, and make sure that I am using technology to be the best I can be for my clients.  This job fits me perfectly – I love meeting people, staying connected with others, helping to negotiate good deals and offering the best service I know how to my clients.  Thank you to everyone who has helped me achieve this ranking status.

Happy first day of school to everyone in CMS! I’m a product of the CMS system, having gone to Cornelius Elementary, Alexander Middle and North Mecklenburg High.  Now my daughter started at Bailey Middle School today and we couldn’t be more pleased! I speak with so many families moving to our area about the schools, and I’m so proud to be able to share with them the positive experiences we’ve had at Davidson Elementary and now Bailey Middle.

On Tuesday, I was the sponsor of the Bailey Middle School Teachers’ Luncheon at the Energy Explorium in Huntersville.  Those teachers and administrators are top-notch, enthusiastic and engaged.  I was so happy to be able to give back to the people who do so much for our children.  My daughter is going to have a great year!

At the very end of July, I attended the Star Power annual conference in San Diego, CA with 600 of the top producing real estate agents from across the country.  It was incredible!  I attended multiple sessions every day that gave me the latest information on what’s going on with the economy and in the real estate industry.  I had the ability to network and dialogue with others like me.  I loved being able to share what’s worked for me and learn successful ideas from my peers.  So now I have gathered up even more valuable tools for my real estate business, and plan to implement proven ideas and systems to help you, my valued clients.

One of my gifts to sellers and buyers, when they close on a home, is a donation to the Children’s Miracle Network, in their name.  Let me tell you a little about this wonderful charity.  Started in 1983, its goals are to help as many children as possible by raising funds for children’s hospitals and also keeping those funds in the local community in which they were raised.  Our local hospital is the Levine Children’s Hospital in Charlotte.  Children’s Miracle Network provides comfort, treatment and hope to millions of sick kids each year – whether they be suffering from asthma or broken bones to birth defects and cancer.  The charity’s most recognizable symbol is its red and yellow balloon icon, which goes very nicely with the RE/Max balloon logo, pictured below.
