Caldwell Station

Caldwell Station

Caldwell Station is an established planned community in Cornelius, NC that is still growing.  This is a great place to buy moderately-priced single-family homes or townhouses  -- buy one that is already existing or have one built for you. It is just down the street from the charming town of Davidson, and close to Route 73, Huntersville, Birkdale for shopping and I-77.

This neighborhood-with-a-country-feel has it roots back in the 1890s when Caldwell Station was a small rural commercial and transportation center.  The Caldwell Station School and a railroad platform are the only remnants of the original site.  The school was established in 1895 and then rebuilt in 1925, but had no electricity or plumbing, and only a large bank of windows to let in light.  In 1925, it had 48 students.  Mayes Road, named for my family, is right across from this property, so we've watched it grow from its inception.

Nowadays, residents can enjoy the tree-lined streets and well-lit sidewalks, and everything else this community has to offer: two playgrounds, six parks, tennis courts, a Jr. Olympic-sized pool with a slide and clubhouse, and a 24-hour fitness center.  The Children’s Schoolhouse, a parent-run co-operative preschool, one of the best in the area, is located here: www.thechildrensschoolhouse.com.
